The China Association of Higher Education has announced the list of Chinese leading universities for the China-Arab 10+10 university cooperation framework. Fudan University has been selected as the leading university in the field of Public Policy. The Institute for Global Public Policy and the Fudan Office of Global Partnerships will implement the project on behalf of Fudan university.

In recent years, Fudan University has actively promoted cooperation with universities in Arab countries. In 2023, Fudan University hosted the inaugural China-Arab Forum on Global Development and Governance, which was supported by the Secretariat General of the League of Arab States and jointly guided by the China Association of Higher Education and the Association of Arab Universities (AARU). During the forum, the launching ceremony of the Fudan-Arab Research Centre for Global Development and Governance was organized. The Centre was jointly sponsored by Fudan University and AARU. Additionally, the China-Arab Network of Schools of Public Policy and Administration (CANSPPA) was established, which was initiated by the Institute for Global Public Policy and had 12 renowned Chinese and Arab schools of public policy and management as cosponsoring members.

The selection of Fudan University as the leading university in the field of public policy for the China-Arab “10+10” university cooperation framework will further promote the engagement of Fudan University and the Institute for Global Public Policy in cooperation with Arab countries. It will deepen the exchanges between China and Arab countries in the field of public management and public policy, and contribute to the modernization of global governance systems.

To implement the “Eight Major Initiatives for China-Arab Cooperation” proposed by President Xi at the first China-Arab Summit in 2022, and to implement the “China-Arab 10+10 university cooperation framework”, the Ministry of Education of China issued a notice on November 30, 2023, inviting Chinese universities to apply for being leading universities in ten areas of cooperation. A total of 84 universities applied. The China Association of Higher Education organized evaluation and selection processes.
