Li Zhang received his education from University of Washington (Ph.D.), the London School of Economics and Political Science (M.Sc.), and Zhongshan (Sun Yat-Sen) University (M.Sc. and B.S.), and is currently the Head of Institute of Population Studies, Professor of the School of Social Development and Public Policy, Fudan University. He taught at The Chinese University of Hong Kong from January 2001 to June 2008. His research interests include China’s urban and regional development, political economy of migration and urbanization, urban social geography, and anti-poverty policy. His work has appeared widely in many ISI database listed internationally refereed journals such as The China Quarterly, International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, Urban Studies, International Regional Science Review, Regional Studies, The China Review, Geoforum, China Economic Review, Habitat International, Asian Survey, Citizenship Studies, Cities, Post-Communist Economics, and The International Journal of Geographical Information Science. He has been invited as an external reviewer to assess manuscripts submitted to prominent international journals including International Regional Science Review, Journal of Comparative Economics, The China Review, International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, World Development, Regional studies, Environment and Planning A, China Quarterly, Regional Science, Urban Geography, Citizenship Studies, and City: Analysis of Urban Trends, Culture, Theory, Policy, Action.
