President Li Jin Visited the London School of Economics and Political Science

On November 21, 2023, Fudan University President Li Jin conducted an official visit to the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and attended the second Fudan-LSE Annual Academic Conference. The delegation was warmly received by LSE President Eric Neumayer, Vice Presidents Susana Mourato, Charles Stafford, and Emma McCoy.

President Li Jin met with President Eric Neumayer at the LSE Centre Building. Both sides highly praised the collaborative achievements in research and education between Fudan University and LSE since the beginning of the new century, especially since the signing of the Institutional Partnership Agreement during the 4th meeting of the China-UK High-Level People-to-People Dialogue in 2016. They expressed satisfaction with the work of the LSE-Fudan Research Centre for Global Public Policy and the LSE-Fudan Global Public Policy Hub, and put forward concrete proposals for further deepening and expanding the partnership between the two universities.

President Li Jin and the delegation then visited the LSE School of Public Policy to learn more about the development of the LSE-Fudan Research Centre for Global Public Policy and the LSE-Fudan Global Public Policy Hub. He listened to the work report of Professor Meng Bingchun, the LSE Co-director of the Center, and Professor Jing Yijia, the Fudan Co-director of the Center. President Li Jin paid special attention to joint research publications produced by the Centre and inquired about the work of two LSE fellows of the Hub.

Members of the Fudan delegations included Fan Wu, Vice Dean of the Fudan Medical College, Li’an Lu, Director of the Office of Global Partnerships, Yijia Jing, Dean of the Institute for Global Public Policy, and Hongyang Xu, Deputy Director of the Office of Global Partnerships of Fudan Medical College. Representatives from the London School of Economics and Political Science included Simon Glendinning, Head of the European Institute, Paul Kelly, Head of the Department of Government, Bingchun Meng, Director of LSE PhD Academy, Tim Hildebrandt, Deputy Head of the Department of Social Policy, Neil McLean, Director of the Language Center, Andrew Street, Head of the Department of Health Policy, and Tony Travers, Deputy Dean of the School of Public Policy.
