讲座内容/ Abstract:
The role of cities for achieving a more sustainable planet has become increasingly apparent as the world keeps urbanizing. Cities consume huge amounts of water, energy, food and other resources and discharge large amounts of greenhouse gases (GHGs). However, cities also present great opportunities for innovating and leading us towards a sustainable future. Cities are centers of knowledge, technological innovation, financial resources, and decision making that can catalyze changes. This lecture will present the opportunities and challenges for cities tackling climate change having the background the forthcoming World Urban Forum in Egypt.
