Prof. Emma McCoy

Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), LSE

Professor Emma McCoy serves as Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), a position she assumed in October 2022 . In this role, she oversees student education across the School, ensuring all students receive an outstanding educational experience and become integral members of LSE's scholarly community. Prior to joining LSE, she served as Vice-Provost for Education and Student Experience at Imperial College London. Professor McCoy is also a Professor in the Department of Statistics, with research interests spanning time series analysis, causal inference, and the application of data science to inform intervention policies, particularly in transport settings . She is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications and the Royal Statistical Society, and a member of the Royal Society Advisory Committee for Mathematics Education . She has been particularly active in promoting AI and data literacy in higher education .

Prof. Paul Kelly  

Head of Department of Government, LSE

Professor Paul Kelly is Professor of Political Theory at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he also serves as Head of the Department of Government . A former Pro-Director of LSE, he brings extensive leadership experience to his academic roles . His research and teaching are highly interdisciplinary, spanning political philosophy, history, and political theory. Professor Kelly has authored and edited sixteen books and numerous scholarly articles, with his interests ranging across the history of political thought and contemporary political theory . He has served as editor and co-editor of prestigious journals including Utilitas and Political Studies, and co-founded Political Studies Review . His recent publications include Political Thinkers (2017, with David Boucher) and Conflict, War and Revolution: The Problem of Politics in International Political Thought (2022), which examines major thinkers from Thucydides to Schmitt on the nature of conflict and political order . He is currently working on a book entitled Against Post Liberalism for Polity Press.

Prof. Charlie Beckett

Department of Media and Communications, LSE

Professor Charlie Beckett is a leading authority on journalism and media change, serving as Professor in the Department of Media and Communications and founding Director of Polis, LSE's international journalism think-tank . He currently leads the JournalismAI project, which explores how artificial intelligence is transforming newsrooms worldwide . Previously, he served as Lead Commissioner for the LSE Truth, Trust & Technology Commission (T3), addressing the misinformation crisis . Before entering academia in 2006, Professor Beckett spent over two decades as an award-winning journalist, including roles as programme editor at ITN's Channel 4 News and senior producer at BBC News and Current Affairs . He is the author of influential works including SuperMedia: Saving Journalism So It Can Save The World (2008) and WikiLeaks: News In The Networked Era (2012) . His research focuses on how journalism is evolving globally and its relationship to society and politics.

Dr. Neil McLean

Director of LSE Language Centre

Dr. Neil McLean serves as Director of the LSE Language Centre, where he leads initiatives in language education and intercultural communication . His academic focus centers on communication, language use and identity, and sociolinguistics, with particular expertise in intercultural communication . At the Language Centre, he teaches courses on intercultural communication and contributes to the Sociolinguistics provision. Previously, Dr. McLean served as Director of LSE's Academic and Professional Development Division, where he played a pivotal role in developing LSE100, the School's flagship interdisciplinary course . His doctoral research examined the formation of teaching identities among novice social science teachers, reflecting his ongoing interest in how identities are negotiated through communication . Dr. McLean is an active participant in LSE's international engagement activities, frequently accompanying senior leadership on visits to partner institutions in Asia, including Peking University and Fudan University . He has also been involved in initiatives exploring creativity in education and the implications of artificial intelligence for learning.

Prof. Yijia Jing

Chang Jiang Scholar, Dean, Fudan IGPP

Chang Jiang Scholar, Seaker Chan Chair Professor in Public Management, Dean of the Institute for Global Public Policy, Co-Director of LSE-Fudan Research Centre for Global Public Policy, and Director of Fudan-Arab Research Centre for Global Development and Governance, Fudan University. He got his BA/MA in Economics from Peking University, MA in Sociology from University of Maryland College Park, and Ph.D. in Public Policy from the Ohio State University. He conducts research on privatization, governance, social organizations, and collaborative service delivery, and publishes on top journals like Public Administration Review, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, and Governance. He is founding editor-in-chief of the journal Global Public Policy and Governance and a founding co-editor of the Palgrave book series, Governing China in the 21st Century. He is a co-editor of International Public Management Journal, and was an associate editor of Public Administration Review and editor-in-chief of Chinese journal Fudan Public Administration Review. He served as a vice president of International Research Society for Public Management and is the founding president of China-Arab Network of Schools of Public Policy and Administration (CANSPPA).

Dr. Ping Jiang

Associate professor, Fudan IGPP

Associate professor/doctoral supervisor at the Institute for Global Public Policy, with research focus on environmental management. Assistant Director and researcher at the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Base for Climate Change and Environment Studies and Fudan Tyndall Center, member of the Shanghai Ecological Committee of the China Democratic League, and review expert for the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has led over 20 research projects funded by NSFC, Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, Sino-German Center, etc., published over 60 papers as first/corresponding author in leading domestic and international journals, and author of 2 academic monographs. In 2024, he was recognized as a Clarivate Global Highly Cited Researcher (cross field, top 1%). He had got his Ph.D. from the University of East Anglia (UEA), UK, in 2010, and had carried out his postdoctoral research at the United Nations University (UNU) from 2010 to 2012.
