On April 7, 2025, the International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM) held its Annual Conference in Bologna, Italy. On the opening day, Professor Yijia Jing, Editor-in-Chief of Global Public Policy and Governance (GPPG), participated in the Editor’s Panel. The session was moderated by Professor Rosemary O’Leary from the University of Kansas, who also serves on GPPG’s editorial board. Editors from other leading journals in the field of public administration, including JPART, PMR, and others, also took part in the discussion.

During the panel, each editor offered a brief overview of their journal’s development and features. The session addressed key topics including academic standards, peer review processes, support for early-career scholars, the use of AI in publishing, and DEI policies. Following these presentations, the editors engaged in a lively and in-depth dialogue with the audience. As the first speaker of the session, Professor Jing introduced the mission and vision of GPPG, underscoring its commitment to bridging traditional public administration and policy research with global governance studies. He highlighted the journal’s aim to serve as a leading platform for scholarship tackling transnational policy challenges and advancing comparative governance research.

GPPG was the only journal from Asia represented in the editorial roundtable, underscoring the growing global presence and academic contributions of Asian scholarship in the field of public administration. The session served as a valuable platform for mutual learning and exchange among leading public management journals, strengthened interactions between editors and prospective authors, and contributed to enhancing the international visibility and impact of all participating journals.
