On November 11, 2023, the Institute for Global Public Policy (IGPP) hosted the 49th Fudan-LSE Lecture Series. Professor Sebastián Puig from the National University of Science and Technology of Argentina gave a lecture titled “Energy to transform”. The lecture was hosted by Professor Jing Yijia, Dean of the IGPP.
Before the lecture, Professor Jing briefly introduced Professor Sebastián Puig. Professor Sebastián Puig is the Dean of the Regional College of the National Technological University in Santa Cruz, Argentina. He was also elected as a People's Advisor to the Judicial Committee of the Santa Cruz Province.
In the beginning, Professor Sebastián Puig pointed out that over the past few decades, countries in the Southern Hemisphere of the world have been able to showcase their research achievements in the field of energy transformation on the international stage. These countries possess strategic human and natural resources and can deepen cooperation in knowledge production and the development of cutting-edge technologies. Professor Sebastián Puig emphasized that energy is a central concept for the development of countries worldwide. The concept of energy goes beyond the realms of science or economy; it defines the fundamental characteristics of social organizations, encompasses all aspects of human life and production, and even influences people’s understanding of global geopolitics.
During the Q&A and discussion session, faculty and students engaged in discussions on topics such as the production of other high-value-added products and methods after the resource transition in the province of Santa Cruz, as well as issues related to talent development in relevant fields. The lecture concluded successfully in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere.
