On September 24, 2026, a delegation led by Tuenjai Kongsombat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand, visited the Institute for Global Public Policy (IGPP) at Fudan University. The delegation was welcomed by Professor Yijia Jing, Dean of IGPP; Associate Professor Ziteng Fan of IGPP; Professor Ke Shen, Associate Dean of the School of Social Development and Public Policy; Ms. Qiuyue Wang, Director-General of the Shanghai Yanze Social Work Development Center; and Ms. Yanli Guo, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Shanghai Songding Social Innovation Development Center (SSIC), among others.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed academic exchange and talent development in the fields of social policy and public governance and exchanged views on opportunities for future cooperation. Prof.Jing provided an overview of the current landscape of social development in China and Shanghai, highlighting major achievements and ongoing challenges. Ms. Wang introduced the work of the Shanghai Yanze Social Work Development Center, including professional social work services. The participants then engaged in an in-depth exchange on social policy innovation, social welfare services, digitalization and inclusive development, and collaboration with social organizations.

Both sides agreed that China and Thailand have considerable potential for cooperation in social policy and social governance. They expressed their intention to pursue practical collaboration through joint training programs, experience sharing, and collaborative academic research, while establishing a long-term mechanism for continued engagement. Such efforts would help integrate academic exchange, talent development, and collaboration among social organizations and further promote mutual learning in social policy and cooperation in social governance between China and Thailand.

Following the meeting, the delegation and hosts took a commemorative group photo in front of Fudan University’s to-be-launched “Thailand Corner.”
