Professor Daniel A. Bell

Professor Daniel A. Bell is a world-renowned Canadian philosopher and sociologist. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University in Canada in 1985, and his Master and Ph.D degrees from Oxford University in 1988 and 1991, respectively. He is currently dean and professor of School of Political Science and Public Administration at Shandong University, Chair Professor of Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University. Before joining Shandong University in 2016, he was a professor of Department of Philosophy and director of the Center for International and Comparative Political Philosophy at Tsinghua University. He has also taught or has held research fellowship at National University of Singapore, University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Princeton University, Stanford University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Hebrew University. His main area of research is political philosophy, especially political philosophy research in the context of Confucianism and Chinese culture.
