In late November 2023, the LSE-Fudan Research Centre for Global Public Policy organized an academic visit to partners in the United Kingdom.
On the 21st and 22nd, scholars from various departments and schools of Fudan University, including the Institute for Global Public Policy (IGPP), School of International Relations and Public Affairs, School of Social Development and Public Policy, School of Environment, and School of Public Health, participated in the second Fudan-LSE Annual Academic Conference with the theme China and the World: Priorities and Challenges in Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). During the conference, the participants visited the LSE-Fudan Global Public Policy Hub located at the LSE and engaged in discussions with two fellows of the Hub.
On the 22nd, the council meeting of the LSE-Fudan Research Centre for Global Public Policy was held at LSE, with three Fudan University council members, Professor Xizhe Peng (online), Professor Wen Chen (online), and Professor Yijia Jing, as well as three LSE council members, Professor Bingchun Meng, Professor Timothy Hildebrandt, and Professor Andres Velasco, attended the meeting. Besides the council meeting, Professor Yijia Jing had discussions with Professor Paul Kelly, the Head of the Department of Government at LSE, Professor Tim Forsyth, the Head of the Department of International Development, Professor Andrew Street, the Head of the Department of Health Policy, and Professor Michael Mason, the Director of the Middle East Center.
On the 23rd, Professor Yijia Jing, Professor Yingyao Chen,Vice Dean of the School of Public Health, Professor Chunrong Liu, Director of the Fudan-Europe China Research Center at the University of Oslo, and Rong Zhang, Director of the Administrative Office of the IGPP, visited the University of Bath. They had a meeting with Professor Julian Chaudhuri and Professor Sarah Hainsworth, two Vice Presidents of the University of Bath, and Professor Joe Devine, Assistant Vice President, to explore possibilities of academic and teaching cooperation. Subsequently, the Fudan delegation had multiple academic exchanges with Professor Deborah Wilson, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Emma Carmmel, Vice Dean, Professor Gail Forey, Professor Sarah Moore, Head of the Department of Social and Policy Sciences, Associate Professor Michael Bloomfield, Director of the Development Studies Center, and Associate Professor Yixian Sun, Director of International Development and Economics.
During the visit to the UK, Professor Yijia Jing, accompanying the delegation led by President Li Jin, visited the Chinese Embassy in the UK and met with Ambassador Zeguang Zheng to discuss the cooperation between Fudan University and British universities, especially LSE.
