On April 1, 2024, the Fudan Institute for Global Public Policy (IGPP) organized the 7th lecture of the Fudan-Arab Lecture Series. Professor Xu Tang from Fudan IRDR ICoE-RIG-WECEIPHE delivered a lecture titled “the Establishment and Operation of International Multilateral Cooperation Networks.” The lecture was moderated by Professor Yijia Jing, the Dean of the IGPP. Professor Tang is a professor and senior engineer at Fudan Development Institute and the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, as well as the Executive Director of the IRDR ICoE-RIG-WECEIPHE at Fudan University. Additionally, he serves as a Senior Scientific Advisor at the Office of the International Research for Disaster Risk (IRDR) program, jointly established by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the International Science Council (ISC).
Professor Tang’s lecture included six parts: the situation, pattern, and challenges of global governance; the elements, platforms, and tools of global governance; the current status, changes, and concerns of international organizations; the current status and issues of China's international organization construction; key points and steps to consider in international organization construction; and case studies of global governance design for climate change adaptation. Based on these topics, Professor Tang discussed the current status and issues of China's international organization construction, and extended the discussion to the key points and steps in international organization construction.
During the Q&A and commentary session, Jingyuan Xu, assistant professor of IGPP, gave comments on the lecture. The audience engaged in discussions with Professor Tang on topics such as how to enhance a country's influence in international organizations.
