On July 1, 2025, the University Introduction Session, organized by Institute for Global Public Policy (IGPP), was successfully held. The event featured distinguished scholars from Harvard University, LSE, Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), Brazil, and the University of Southern Denmark to introduce the programs and academic strengths, and to share insights on international development, academic exchange, and educational collaboration with China.

The session opened with a warm welcome and address by Dean Yijia Jing of IGPP. He emphasized that the session aimed to broaden students’ international perspectives, deepen their understanding of the latest developments in global public policy, and provide a direct platform for engagement with world-class universities for those considering overseas studies.

Professor Steven Kelman from Harvard University drew on nearly 60 years of study and work at Harvard to introduce the university’s traditions and teaching approaches in public management and policy. He noted that despite certain challenges in China–U.S. educational exchanges, Harvard continues to welcome outstanding students from China and remains committed to advancing global collaboration and talent development.

Professor Álvaro Méndez from LSE highlighted the university’s exceptional international environment and strengths in social science research. He noted that LSE offers over 150 master’s programs, with world-leading expertise in areas such as global governance, and encouraged students to prepare early for applications while actively exploring scholarship and exchange opportunities.

Professor Evan Berman from FGV highlighted the university’s achievements in social policy, environmental governance, and women’s development. He emphasized that FGV is one of Brazil’s most influential private universities and think tanks, providing “problem-oriented” solutions for Global South countries. FGV also offers tuition reduction programs for international students, with living costs significantly lower than in Europe or the U.S., creating an “affordable yet enriching” international learning experience.

Professor Søren Harnow Klausen from the University of Southern Denmark highlighted the university’s research strengths in welfare policy, health economics, and AI. He praised its tradition of interdisciplinary research and focus on applied practice, noting that Odense, the university’s city, is a vibrant hub for Sino-Nordic exchange, with bilingual Chinese–Danish street signs reflecting a strong international atmosphere and spirit of cooperation.

The event provided students with information from world-renowned universities, serving as a direct and authoritative reference for those aspiring to study abroad. Participants noted that the face-to-face interactions gave them a clearer understanding of each institution’s unique features and application processes, from which they gained significant insights.
