2021-12-11
The “Young Scholar Workshop on the First Anniversary of Global Public Policy and Governance (GPPG)”, organized by IGPP and the LSE-Fudan Research Centre for Global Public Policy, was held at West Sub-building of Guanghua Towers, Fudan University, on December 11th, 2021. More than 20 young scholars from Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University and other universities attended the workshop.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Associate Professor Ping Zhang, Assistant Dean of the IGPP. Dean Yijia Jing delivered a welcome speech. He warmly welcomed participating young scholars and pointed out that the workshop was important because it reflected the gradual transformation of China’s Public Management from a stage of imitation, learning and catching up to a stage of active exploration, active creation and active leadership. This transformation brought new opportunities of academic research and knowledge building. He introduced the original aspiration to establish the journal, the publication scope, and the quality standards of the journal, and warmly encourage young scholars to join this endeavor to build a China-based platform for global academic presentation, debates and exchanges.
Then, Susie Han, Publishing Manager of Humanities and Social Sciences Journals in the Greater China, Springer Nature, introduced the GPPG journal from the perspective of the publisher. Based on statistical data, Susie analyzed the number of submitted and accepted articles, review period, journal visits, author’s country distribution, number of downloaded articles and citations, etc. She pointed out that the current status of GPPG was pretty good among new journals.
The workshop was divided into 6 panels: Demographic, Economics and Social Policies, Climate Change and Environmental Policies, International Governance and Public Policy, Social Governance and Cooperation, Local Government and Government-Business Relations, Emergency Management and National Security.
The closing ceremony was chaired by Ziteng Fan, Assistant Editor of GPPG. First, representatives of each panel summarized the discussions. Afterwards, Dean Yijia Jing gave closing remarks. He expected this workshop to promote mutual learning and communication among young scholars. He also hoped that the IGPP, Fudan-LSE Research Centre for Global Public Policy and GPPG could work with all colleagues to promote high-quality research in global public policy and governance.
