On October 21, 2025, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Nordic Centre at Fudan University, the Institute for Global Public Policy (IGPP) at Fudan University, the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki, and the Nordic Centre jointly hosted the Fudan–Nordic Reception. The event brought together scholars from Fudan and leading Nordic universities to reconnect, exchange ideas, and discuss ways to further strengthen comprehensive collaboration.
Welcome remarks were delivered by Dean Yijia Jing of IGPP, Vice Dean Jari Eloranta of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki, and Chair Geir Sigurðsson of the Nordic Centre Board. Each speaker highlighted recent achievements and outlined future plans for collaboration between Fudan University and Nordic institutions.

Participants shared updates on their institutions’ involvement in Fudan–Nordic cooperation and discussed preliminary plans for collaboration across a wide range of fields. Nordic attendees included Professor Jane Reichel, Vice Chancellor of Stockholm University; Professor Björn Lundqvist and Professor Irmgard Schweiger of Stockholm University; Johanna Wiklund, International Program Officer; Professor Timo Toikko, Chair of the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland; Professor Søren Klausen of the University of Southern Denmark; Professor Stein Kuhnle of the University of Bergen; Dr. Annina Lattu of Tampere University; Hafliði Sævarsson, Director of the Nordic Centre Secretariat; and Veli-Matti Palomäki, Project Manager at the Nordic Centre. Fudan attendees included Professor Mei Tian, Director of the Center for Advancing Global Collaboration and the Human Phenome Institute; Professor Feng Tian, Vice Dean of the School of Social Development and Public Policy; Professor Jianxin Zhu, former Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages; Professor Liang Chen, Vice Dean and Chair of the English Department; Associate Professor Ping Zou of the Spanish Department; Professor Chunrong Liu of the School of International Relations and Public Affairs and Director of the Fudan–European Centre for China Studies; Associate Professor Ping Jiang and Assistant Professor Xin Ye of IGPP; and Dr. Puxiang Ren of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law.

Through friendly group dialogue and open discussion, the reception strengthened mutual understanding between Fudan and Nordic colleagues, establishing a positive foundation for the next phase of collaborative initiatives.
