On October 3, 2025, Professor Francesco D’Arelli, Director of the Cultural Section of the Italian Consulate General in Shanghai, visited the Institute for Global Public Policy (IGPP) at Fudan University to discuss deepening cooperation between the Treccani Encyclopedia Institute of Italy and IGPP. He was warmly received by Dean Yijia Jing of IGPP. Ms. Qiling Yue from the Italian Consulate General in Shanghai and Yilin Liu, Communications Secretary of IGPP, also attended the meeting.

Dean Jing extended a warm welcome to Professor D’Arelli and introduced IGPP’s global collaboration initiatives, with particular emphasis on promoting dialogue among civilizations and advancing youth development. Professor D’Arelli reviewed the history and development of the Treccani Institute, underscoring its significant role in fostering cultural and academic exchange between Italy and China, and expressed strong interest in further expanding cooperation with Fudan University. Both sides agreed to use existing China–Italy cultural cooperation mechanisms as a platform and to fully leverage the rich cultural and academic resources of the Treccani Institute and Fudan University.

As the two countries with the largest number of UNESCO-recognized world cultural heritage sites, China and Italy share a strong foundation for cooperation in cultural heritage protection, dialogue among civilizations, educational innovation, and youth exchange. In the first half of 2025, Fudan University and the Treccani Institute signed two MOUs at both the university and institute levels. They also jointly organized several academic conferences, thereby establishing a comprehensive and multi-dimensional framework for cooperation. By the end of October 2025, IGPP faculty and students are scheduled to visit the Treccani Institute in Rome for cultural exchange activities and to participate in the academic conference Multilateralism in a Post-Global World, co-organized by the Treccani Institute and Villa Vigoni.
