On September 16, 2025, the Institute for Global Public Policy (IGPP) at Fudan University, together with the LSE–Fudan Research Centre for Global Public Policy, hosted the kick-off meeting for the Fudan–LSE undergraduate exchange program. Participants included LSE Year Abroad undergraduates, students enrolled in the joint “Global Public Policy and Governance” undergraduate program co-run by IGPP and the International Cultural Exchange School, and other students interested in the exchange. Dean Yijia Jing of IGPP delivered a welcome address, while Neil McLean, Director of the LSE Language Centre, and Hua Xiang, Director of the East Asian Languages Department, provided video remarks. The session was hosted by Administrative Office Director Rong Zhang of IGPP.

Dean Jing opened the event by warmly welcoming all students. He provided an overview of IGPP and highlighted the role of the Fudan–LSE Research Centre in facilitating undergraduate exchanges between the two institutions in recent years. He encouraged students to make full use of IGPP’s academic resources and cross-cultural opportunities, and to actively participate in research and practical activities in global public policy.

Director McLean expressed gratitude for IGPP’s support of the LSE Year Abroad undergraduate program, noting that students gain valuable experience through joint research projects with Fudan peers. Director Xiang highlighted her satisfaction with students’ smooth integration into life at Fudan and encouraged them to make the most of their study and research opportunities in Shanghai, further developing their Chinese language skills while exploring global public policy and governance.

At the conclusion, Director Zhang provided an overview of IGPP’s international collaborations and the progress of the Fudan–LSE exchange program. She also highlighted the Centre’s efforts to promote undergraduate exchanges, including academic conferences and lectures, joint research projects, and a range of student activities.

With this kick-off meeting, the 2025–2026 Fudan–LSE undergraduate exchange officially began. IGPP and the Centre will continue to provide a high-quality platform for student exchanges, expand areas of collaboration, and support students’ academic growth and cross-cultural development.
