On November 18, 2025, Dr. Pechdau Tohmeena, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) of Thailand, led a delegation from more than ten Thai universities, think tanks, and government agencies to visit the Institute for Global Public Policy (IGPP) at Fudan University. Dean Yijia Jing and Director Mei Tian of the Center for Advancing Global Collaboration warmly welcomed the delegation. Assistant Dean Haoqi Qian and Assistant Professor Wenjia Song of IGPP also attended the meeting.

In his welcome remarks, Dean Jing noted that the visit coincided with the fiftieth anniversary of China–Thailand diplomatic relations, offering an opportunity to reflect on past collaborations and plan for future initiatives. He recalled the 2007 appointment of Princess Sirindhorn as an honorary professor at Fudan University and provided an overview of IGPP’s development, highlighting ongoing cooperation with Thai universities through the IMPA program, summer schools, and various training initiatives.

Director Tian highlighted Fudan University’s achievements in internationalization and outlined the next steps in its global cooperation strategy. She emphasized the university’s commitment to its educational partnership with Thailand and expressed hope that the visit would further strengthen the ties and friendship between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Tohmeena highlighted that China–Thailand collaboration in higher education has steadily strengthened through high-level exchanges in recent years. She emphasized that talent development, research cooperation, and academic exchange are key pillars of the bilateral relationship, and affirmed that the Thai Ministry will fully support partnerships with Fudan University in curriculum co-development, joint programs, and scholarship initiatives.

The Thai delegation and Fudan University representatives engaged in lively discussions on talent cultivation, as well as faculty and student exchanges, laying the foundation for deeper cooperation in the future.
