Orientation for the 'Global Public Policy and Governance' Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Program

On September 13, the Institute for Global Public Policy hosted a welcome meeting for students enrolled in the Global Public Policy and Governance undergraduate interdisciplinary program. This gathering sought to deepen their understanding of the institute's mission and contemporary global governance challenges. It also aimed to guide them in tailoring their academic journey.

Professor Yijia Jing, the Dean of the Institute for Global Public Policy and Director of the LSE-Fudan Centre, delivered the keynote address. He shared the vision behind the inception of the “Global Public Policy and Governance” undergraduate program, emphasizing its mission to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of pressing global issues and related academic training. He noted the program's alignment with the institute's international, cutting-edge, and multidisciplinary ethos. Students can expect support from our faculty members and academic resources. Professor Jing highlighted plans to continually enhance the curriculum and foster collaborative platforms with LSE professors and students. He also encouraged feedbacks from students to refine the program further, urging them to contribute to making it a hallmark of excellence.

The session was moderated by Yunxiong Li, an assistant professor at the institute and the program's director. After warmly greeting the students, he outlined the core objectives and future aspirations of the Institute for Global Public Policy. The meeting concluded with a student introduction segment. Students from diverse academic articulated their intrigue and perspectives on global public policy and governance, shedding light on their interdisciplinary insights.

At the end of the meeting, Ms. Man Xu introduced the course schedule for the students in detail and provided guidance on course selection. Yunxiong Li answered questions from students on various aspects such as public policy course learning, participation in research projects, and further studies and overseas applications.
