On the morning of August 28, 2023, the Institute for Global Public Policy at Fudan University successfully held the opening ceremony for new students enrolled in all the four postgraduate programs. The event was attended by Professor JING Yijia, Dean of the institute, young faculty members of the institute, and nearly 60 new graduate students from both China and abroad.
The opening ceremony was moderated by HE Jianzi, assistant professor and student counselor of the institute. Professor Jing extended a warm welcome to the new students from various countries around the world. He expressed expectations in three aspects: independent critical thinking, effective communication and collaboration skills, and proper time management. He also encouraged students to make good use of the institute’s diverse social networks and academic platforms, actively engage in international exchanges and collaborations, and contribute to the enhancement of public goods.
Furthermore, to better assist new students in adapting to their upcoming life at Fudan, the institute organized campus tours on the mornings of August 27th and 30th. These tours led the new students through key functional areas, landmarks, and important facilities on campus, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the entire Handan Main Campus and giving them a taste of the university’s historical heritage and the pace of life.
During the first week of enrollment, program directors also met with their new students to provide guidance for thriving in their programs. In addition, the class adviser, Assistant Professor FAN Ziteng, invited external guests and former graduates of the institute to share their experiences and insights regarding career development with the students.
