On April 29, 2019, Natalie Lichtenstein, former Inaugural General Counsel at AIIB and Chief Counsel for AIIB’s establishment, talked on "Setting Up the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank" during the No.6 Fudan-LSE Lecture Series. With a 30-year legal career at the World Bank, who lending operations in China and other countries, as well as dealing with institutional governance issues and reforms, Lichtenstein combed the management framework of different multilateral development banks(hereinafter referred to as MDBs) like World Bank and the Asian Development Bank on a comparative perspective. Then, she introduced the background, setting process, operation and future development of AIIB. She pointed out that it was necessary for AIIB to draw upon feasible experience from various MDBs. Lichtenstein also reminded the audience to pay attention to AIIB’s innovation in areas like governance structure, voting structure and project operation. In conclusion, Lichtenstein shared her career experience in multilateral development organizations.
