THE SPEAKER
Mr. K. V. Kamath is the President of the New Development Bank (NDB) founded by the BRICS nations. He was the former Chairman of ICICI Bank, India's largest private sector bank and of Infosys Limited, one of India's largest technology services companies. Mr. Kamath also served on the board of Schlumberger Limited. After graduating from prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) in 1971, Mr. Kamath started his career with ICICI in the Project Finance division. He then set up several of ICICI’s new businesses such as leasing, venture capital, and credit rating as well as handling general management positions. In 1988, Mr. Kamath joined the Asian Development Bank in Manila, in their Private Sector Department. Mr Kamath returned to India in May 1996, to take over as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer at ICICI, which he later transformed into ICICI Bank, the first universal bank in India. He has been a Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos.
