THE SPEAKER
Timothy Hildebrandt is an Associate Professor of Social Policy and Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He serves as co-director of the Department of Social Policy doctoral programme and a member of the council of the LSE-Fudan Research Centre for Global Public Policy. His research focuses on social and public policy, political science, communication, development, sexuality, and Asian studies.
ABSTRACT
I will argue that the current pandemic represents more ‘windows of opportunity’ for marginal policy changes in the UK and China, rather than a ‘big opportunity’ for significant paradigm shifts in social policy and politics more broadly. In this talk, I will situate my argument within a discussion of several key frameworks for understanding policymaking.
