On the afternoon of January 16, 2025, interns of the 1st "Fudan-Arab League Excellence Internship Program" visited the Chinese Embassy in Egypt in Cairo. The visit aimed to provide the interns with a deeper understanding of the development and current status of China-Arab relations, as well as to explore the emerging frontiers of cooperation between China and Arab countries.
Counselor Jie Li of the Chinese Embassy warmly welcomed the internship group. She first expressed her heartfelt welcome and noted that this was the first time the Arab League Secretariat had opened an internship program to non-Arab students, marking a new development in the field of higher education and cultural exchange between China and the Arab League. Counselor Li emphasized that the friendly ties between China and Arab nations are deeply rooted in history and in the future. She hoped the interns would make contributions to deepening China-Arab relations and advancing global governance. Xiaohan Pan, the 2nd Secretary of the Embassy, moderated the discussion.
The IGPP delegation expressed their sincere gratitude for the warm reception by the Chinese Embassy in Egypt. The interns also took turns sharing their experiences and insights from their internships. Through daily exchanges with senior Arab League officials, the interns deepened their understanding of the history, culture, and international cooperation of the Arab world, gaining new perspectives and interpretations of China-Arab and China-Egypt cooperation, and global governance.
Counselor Li delivered a concluding speech following the interactive session. She commended the interns for their achievements and personal growth, encouraging them to embody the spirit of Chinese students and work towards enhancing mutual understanding, friendship, and connections between Chinese and Arab youth. The session ended with warm applause.
