Abstract

China’s ageing society governance has occurred in a process of rapid economic and social transformation, urbanization, population movement, and globalization. While achieving world-renowned results, there arealso several major issues in search of solutions, including how to build a holistic response system for ageing issues. This article makes use of governance theories to analyze the roles of government and the correspondinggovernance mechanisms in an ageing society, and then develops an empirical analysis of China's ageing policies from 1982 to 2015. The analysis shows that China has varying degrees of development in governmentgovernance, collaborative governance, and self-governance in its ageing issues, and an integrated governance system around the government is taking shape.
